Based in Silicon Valley, CA, Understanding Palestine was born out of a deep desire to connect at a time of immense grief following the intensified efforts to displace and dispossess Palestinians from their land and property. In a matter of months, wanton violence left thousands of innocent children killed, mothers slain, and fathers maimed. Entire blood lines – multi-generations of families – were exterminated in seconds using AI-enabled technology. Such violence should be an affront to every person who believes in justice, human rights, and international law. Instead, years of institutional bias portraying Palestinians as either terrorists or voiceless and witless victims led to widespread confusion and apathy. As people try to make sense of what is happening, the voices of Palestinians continue to be dismissed or plagued by dehumanization that perpetuates racist stereotypes or misleading narratives. Essential and authentic understanding is what is missing. Understanding Palestine is an effort to fix that.
